A warning about
entering your times -
We heard recently of a
promising young CAD Designer, killed in a car
accident, who arrived in Heaven, protesting to Saint
Peter at the pearly gates. "Saint Peter, I'm only
30. I'm much too young to die. I have a wonderful
wife and family, so much to live for. Why in the
world am I here?" Saint Peter looked through a huge
stack of papers, looked over the top of his glasses
and said, "Well, according to all of these hours on
your time sheets, you've got to be at least 108."

Revit:
Work Sharing Monitor (for multi-user projects)
and Batch Print (for printing a large number of
drawings unattended) are two new tools for Revit
2008. They are available via your Autodesk
Subscription Centre login if you are running
either Revit Architecture, Revit Structure or
Revit MEP.

AutoCAD:
Ever tried to find your AutoSave files in an
emergency? Good luck... AutoCAD's default
installation puts all the AutoSave files (.sv$)
into the same folder as all the AutoCAD
temporary files (.ac$) along with all system
temporary files. In Microsoft's wisdom,
temporary files are deemed to be personal files
and are stored by default in C:/Documents and
Settings/UserName/Local Settings/Temp. This
folder can have several hundred files when you
go looking for your treasured drawing. Instead,
create folders C:/AutoCAD/Temp and
C:/AutoCAD/AutoSave and set your
Preferences>File Locations to point
appropriately.
Are you having performance issues with Open,
Xref, Copy/Paste and Insert functions? Multiple
custom annotation scales may be the problem.

Robots are amazing…
On a recent overseas holiday to the Isle of Man
for the 100th anniversary of the "TT" Motorbike
Championships last June, Honda's ASIMO humanoid
robot was on the island for the event. If you
have an understanding of mechanics, software or the
human body, watch Honda's new TV video and be
absolutely amazed. By the way, the
motorbikes and the racing were phenomenal too!
